Description

Classic Colonial Minutes from Downtown Morristown

A key location less than two miles from downtown Morristown highlights this center hall Colonial in Morris Township. Minutes from shops, restaurants, Midtown Direct trains, Whole Foods Market and Mayo Performing Arts Center, this 10-room home is sited on 0.33 acres in an established neighborhood. A traditional floor plan offers four bedrooms, two full baths and one powder room in 2,837 square feet of living space. There is an attached two-car garage as well as a partially finished walkout basement. Light, bright and airy, this Colonial has curb appeal and can be personalized to suit today’s buyers.

Approached by a paved circular drive, open and level grounds are enhanced by mature landscaping and stone walls. Inside, the freshly-painted layout flows effortlessly from one room to the next. A front door edged by sidelights introduces the center hall with a handsome staircase and hardwood floors. This entry is flanked by the formal living and dining rooms. An expansive picture window fills the living room with natural light, while the dining room is lined in classic chair rails. Recently refinished in rich tones, hardwood floors lend character to both levels of the home.

A roomy kitchen features newly-painted white cabinets, ample counter space, a built-in desk area and a sunny dining area. The adjacent laundry room has shelving, a utility sink and door to the backyard. The focal point of a spacious family room is a raised hearth wood-burning brick fireplace. A cozy den with closet is perfect for a home office or fifth bedroom.

Upstairs, the master suite contains a large walk-in closet, additional closet, dressing area and master bath featuring vintage tile work and fixtures. Well-sized secondary bedrooms with ample closet space share another full bath with an extra-long sink vanity and charming original tile.

Casual gathering space is found in the full, walkout basement’s recreation room. This partially finished level has a set of sliding glass doors to a patio, plus utility, storage and closet space.  Originally built in 1973, this well-maintained home is located in the scenic Wheatsheaf section of the township on a low-traffic street.

This Colonial offers local access to major highways for commuters including Interstate 287 and Route 202. Hiking trails, parkland and historical sites dot the region which played an important role during the American Revolution. Nationally-recognized Morristown Medical Center is also a few miles away. Morris Township is about 22 miles from Newark Liberty Airport and approximately 30 miles from New York City.

Morris Township, NJ real estate market

Incorporated in 1740, Morris Township in Morris County is an idyllic community of about 15 square miles containing rolling hills, open space and established neighborhoods. Often referred to as a "donut township" since it surrounds Morristown, it shares a school system and library with Morristown, although both maintain separate municipal and public services.

The township motto: "A community rich in history with a constant striving for a better tomorrow," reflects the feeling of preservationists and the local government, who are devoted to acquiring open space while keeping large-scale development at bay.

Morris Township is one of the most affluent areas in the County. Major corporations including Honeywell and Mennen have their headquarters in the township.

Many residents commute into New York City about 35 miles west, catching the train in Convent Station, Morris Plains or Morristown. The township enjoys a location close to many museums, entertainment venues, restaurants and shops due to its close proximity to Morristown.
